"There's a world beyond your ice walls, Cillian Fitzpatrick, and it is full of laughter and joy and warmth."
Holy Wow- I have a new book boyfriend and his name is Cillian Fitzpatrick! Y'all this book was such an amazing modern version of Hades/Persephone! Cillian was everything that I wanted in my anti-hero- brooding, grumpy, alpha and totally loveable! He started off the book as cold as unfeeling as he was looking at everything from from a calculated and business oriented mindset. He had his walls super high and an unemotional façade. But soon we realized that there was so much more underneath the surface as there were so much depth of personality behind his walls. And Persy!! OMG- she started off the book with an unrequited crush on Cillian but absolutely grew into a feisty and strong female lead as she became the perfect partner and complement to Cillian. She really was the perfect blend of sweetness and sass!
"Because you are so convinced you're Hades, doomed, dark and unredeemable, you haven't even bothered to read the myth all the way."
So I love a marriage of convenience and this one gave me ALL THE FEELS! Cillian was a reluctant dark knight coming in to rescue Persy from some unsavory characters. But when he realized that he could utilize the circumstances to his advantage, he couldn't resist the chance to save her. I loved the slow burn vibes that the two of them had as they danced around their emerging feelings. And I also loved how Persy just broke through all of Cillian's barriers, bit by bit. And the revelations around why Cillian always limited his emotions had me in tears. And the steamy scenes just about melted my Kindle. These two were just perfect pieces of a whole and I loved every moment of their story. LJ Shen just has this magical way of storytelling and weaving together emotion with intrigue and romance and she captivated me with Cillian and Persy's love story! Give it all the stars!!!
"My soul is yours. No terms attached. Let me know if you have any conditions for keeping it. I will meet them all Cillian."
