"I miss you every day, I write. You're my favorite place."
WOW- this book gave me ALL THE FEELS and I absolutely loved it!! There are definitely a lot of tropes in this book- a bit of fated lovers, a bit of bully romance and a touch of healing, but Penelope Douglas interwove all of these elements into a romance that completely captured my heart! Misha and Ryen start interacting as pen pals during childhood as they were mistakenly partnered together. However, a traumatic event in Misha's life throws their relationship off course and I they end up meeting in high school under false pretenses (at least on his part). And oh my heart- how much did I love Misha? In spite of his hurt from his family circumstances, he was willing to be the cast off in order to help the kids that were picked on. He really was a rebel with a heart of gold. It took me a little longer to connect with Ryen because she was trying so desperately to fit in and wouldn't stand up for herself. But the dual POV allowed me to feel her emotions and I appreciated that Misha helped her with the confidence that she had inside of her all along.
"But I love the way you lie."
The chemistry between these two was insane and I loved the hate vibes that they had going on. It was also amazing to see their walls crumbling as they fell more deeply for each other in spite of their insistence that it was only attraction. The twist and turns kept coming in the last quarter of the book and I felt that it was perfectly balanced with the romance. Cannot recommend this enough for an unique and amazing NA bully romance!! Give it all the stars!!
